Event Description
Arab hip hop is giving voice to a youth-led movement for change, echoing the hopes, dreams and frustrations of the Arab people. In celebration of ‘Lyrics Revolt’, we proudly present some of the best hip-hop artists from the MENA region in a free concert.
Cairo trio Arabian Knightz pride themselves on Arab unity, displaying a vast repertoire of popular tracks with souped-up beats and catchy riffs, combining old-school Arabic music with contemporary, new-school flavour hip hop. Half-Lebanese, half-Algerian Lynn Fattouh aka MC Lix aka Malikah first hit the Lebanese hip-hop scene at the tender age of 16. She raps in Arabic and English, and has honed her skills as an R’n’B and dance vocalist over the last five years, regularly performing in Lebanon and as far afield as the United States and Canada. Omar Offendum is a Syrian-American hip-hop artist, educator, designer, poet and peace activist. He was born in Saudi Arabia, raised in Washington, DC, and currently lives in Los Angeles. He has toured the world, and most recently created several critically acclaimed songs about the popular democratic uprisings throughout the MENA region.
