Synopsis
Up north in Turku, Finland, 19-year-old Iliyas, the film’s protagonist, feels afraid he is losing his mind. His Moroccan friend performed a knife attack in the centre of Turku, Finland, killing two women and severely injuring several bystanders. Just before the attack, he had asked Iliyas to join him and to do it with him. The film follows Iliyas and his friend Mohamed closely. It explores the feelings and psyche of one generation of young Moroccan men, the ones we find making the headlines after such desperate attacks occur. The feeling of being a lost generation, unwanted by all, binds them together. Iliyas is alone with violent thoughts and fears that he will turn into a monster, like his assailant friend.

About the Director
Khalid Laboudi studied law at the University Moulay Ismail Meknes in Morocco. After graduating from Educatel, he has worked in film and TV productions in various positions. He worked for the company AbKhaldi.com as a director and for Boughaz Media as a cinematographer in documentary films and concerts. After moving to Finland in 2012, Khalid has worked as head of investments for Illume in Helsinki.
Hannu-Pekka Vitikainen graduated from the University of Tampere, Finland. As a final thesis, he wrote a theatre play, ‘Skinners Cradle’, which he also directed. He studied journalism and worked as a journalist for newspapers after graduating. Since 2000, he has worked in the Finnish film industry in various positions, including cinematographer, screenwriter, director, and producer. In 2005, he established the production company Zone2 Pictures for which he has produced 14 documentary films. His latest credits as a producer and a cinematographer in documentary films include ‘Gods of Molenbeek’ for which he was nominated for best cinematography at IDA Awards, Los Angeles. The film has been screened in more than 60 international documentary film festivals after its premiere in February 2019, including Hot Docs, Visions du Reel, Dok.fest Munich, Gothenburg IFF, Thessaloniki IFF, DocPoint, and Tampere IFF. His work as a cinematographer also includes the fiction tv-series 'Bordertown, season 2' for Netflix.
