Qatari Student Film Walks Away With Honours at the 2011 Gulf Film Festival

DFI student-filmmaker, Faisal Al-Thani, received a special jury mention at the fourth annual Gulf Film Festival for his short film “Demi Plie”. The film tells the tale of a young Arab girl who fights against cultural barriers and familial expectations to pursue her dreams of becoming a dancer. Faisal said he is overjoyed with the result and honored to be part of an emerging industry that is taking Arab stories to the world.
