Comic Book Writing with Jassim Al Mohannadi

Jassim Al Mohannadi
Jassim Al Mohannadi is the first Qatari/Middle Eastern comic book writer, in Western format. His first book, ‘Primeval’, was published in September of 2019, and has garnered a lot of media attention. Jassim believes that comic books are a compelling way to attract readers’ attention, but does not consider writing comics as a profession. As a third-year student at the College of the North Atlantic, Jassim prefers to focus on his studies for the time being.

Sci-Fi and Fantasy production in Qatar with Ahmed Al Baker and Maryam Al-Sahli, presented by Katara Studios

Maryam Al Sahli
Maryam Al Sahli is a film and video editor who has worked with the Doha Film Institute, Al Jazeera Children’s Channel, Ministry of Culture and Sports, and is currently working at Katara Studios. She is also a member of the Qatari film production company Innovation Films, and the first Qatari woman to make film editing her profession. She worked as a Lead Editor on several projects; the first Qatari Sci-Fi show ‘Medinah’ (editing two episodes of the first season), the TVT mini-series ‘Three Knees Deep’, and Katara Studio’s original series ‘The Pact’.

Ahmed Ibrahim Al Baker
A decade of experience in Film and Television, Ahmed started his career as a co-founder of Qatari based production company Innovation Films. Since then, Al Baker has produced a variety of films, television series, commercials, and music videos.

Known for his role as a showrunner and creator of the first international Sci Fi/Adventure series from the Middle East ‘Medinah’. Al Baker also directed episodes of an upcoming Katara Studios original titled ‘The Pact’ (Robert Knepper, James Marshall) as well as directing an episode of US/Romania TV series titled ‘Three Knee Deep’.

Currently, Al Baker is the Head of Film Production at Katara Studios.

Introduction to Videogames: Protecting your child from harmful content

This workshop is specifically designed to help parents understand healthy gaming practices through a brief introduction to rating systems and parental controls for the latest consoles and gaming systems. Participants will gain the necessary knowledge to safeguard their children within the ever-changing entertainment landscape and enable them to have constructive conversations with their children about their favourite hobby.

Voice acting for videogames and animation with Abby Trott

Abby Trott
Abby Trott is an actor/singer from Attleboro, Massachusetts. She has lived and worked in Tokyo and New York City, and is currently based in Los Angeles.

Abby is perhaps best known for portraying the English voices of Nezuko in Demon Slayer and Annette in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Ivy in Netflix’s Carmen Sandiego, Windblade in the Transformers: Prime Wars Trilogy, and singing the English version of “Lifelight,” the theme for Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Some of her other roles in localized anime and video games include Pod 153 in NieR:Automata, Avril Mead in Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, Mezato Ichi in Mob Psycho 100, Machi in Hunter X Hunter, and Veronica Liones in Seven Deadly Sins.

When she isn’t talking, singing, or screaming into a microphone, Abby likes to spend her time baking, playing shakuhachi (Japanese flute), or chatting with her cats.
