“My intent was to parody the disparity between the number of men to women in Qatar. Further, to present it from a woman’s perspective. I think it really resonated with the expatriate audience.”
“The challenge was to collect enough extras to fill a bar given that I had to shoot on a
Friday morning. Not many expatriate men want to give up their one morning off to be in a film. At 10 am I was pacing in the Irish bar with my eye on the door. Directing the group was difficult at first, but everyone seemed to understand what I was after. Once we got shooting, we had so much fun! I hadn’t laughed that hard in a long time.”
“I’ve never produced, directed or written for film. So I had this constant fear every step of the way that I really didn’t know what I was doing, but Scandar, Ben and the DTFF staff were so supportive and encouraging. I persevered and the outcome was a film that people responded to; plus a very rewarding experience for me”
