By submitting your application form to participate in the Otaku Cosplay Competition (the “Competition”), you confirm that you have read and agree to follow all of the following rules and regulations in the event that you are selected to participate:
1. Who can take part?
Anyone who will be in Doha, Qatar during 26 to 30 November 2013 is eligible to apply to participate in the Competition.
Doha Film Institute staff members (and their families) are also eligible to enter the Competition, subject to fulfilment of regular work commitments.
2. How do I Enter?
To register your interest to participate in the Competition, please complete the short Otaku Cosplay Competition Entry Form located on Doha Film Institute’s website (www.dohafilminstitute.com).
The deadline for receiving applications is 20 November 2013, and all applications must be received by Doha Film Institute before the end of that day. Doha Film Institute may (but is not obliged to) open registration prior to or on the day of the event, if someone drops out at the last minute, or if participant slots otherwise become available.
So remember to enter your application quickly, because the total number of participants that we can allow is only 100.
All entries are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, and if all participant slots are taken, we will create a waiting list for those unfortunate entrants who were not initially selected. If your name is on the waiting list, you will be informed and you may be called to participate, including on the day of the event.
3. Will I need to attend any meetings before the Competition?
Yes. To be fully prepared for Competition day, all entrants need to attend a pre-meeting and technical rehearsal. This lets us show you what to do on the day and where to go when asked. You will also need to turn up ON TIME on the day of the Competition, so that your families and other members of the public are not disappointed.
4. When is the Competition?
The Otaku team will send you via email the schedule for times and locations of mandatory Otaku Cosplay Competition meetings and activities.
If you cannot make it to any of these meetings, we may need to disqualify you from the Competition, so please make sure you can make it on time.
5. Are there any rules relating to the type of Costume I can make?
Yes, please see the guidelines below.
• The Ajyal Youth Film Festival 2013 is a family-friendly event (PG-13). • Please respect the local culture. • Offensive language of any kind is not allowed – no racial or sexual epithets; no profanity, etc. • No excessive violence. • No sexual activity or contact – real or implied. • No nudity – ALL costumes must adhere to the official Ajyal Youth Film Festival 2013 rules and regulations. • Be clever, not crass!
