Synopsis
In a fanatical dictatorship, perpetual silence is mandatory – even the jangle of a bracelet can bring about harsh punishment by stormtrooper-like guards. How, then, to express onself? In tucked-away parts of the city, young people defy the silent order by communicating through the gestures of dance. A stirring and imaginative animated reflection on the damages wrought by the suppression of free speech and the power of resistance, ‘Silence’ portrays a broken society that is nevertheless instilled with the hope of youth.
About the Directors

Born in Beirut, and raised under the MENA sun, Chadi Aoun grew up influenced by multiple cultures. As a perfectionist by design, and a storyteller at heart, drawing and animating naturally developed into hobbies. Add to that an insatiable love for dance and movement; Aoun swirls between the arts of movement on paper as much as on stage. Where there is movement, there is life.
