'The Idol' - An Inclusive Experience
Runtime: 150 min
After our success last year celebrating the UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities with an inclusive presentation of the beloved ‘Hero and the Message’, Ajyal is pleased to present another hit from the Arab world for audiences of all abilities. Visually impaired audiences will be able to view the film through sound alone, with audio description of those visual elements that cannot be understood through voice, music or sound effects. Deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers, as well as those who have difficulty understanding speech, will benefit from subtitles enriched with information about sound effects and music.
This “transadapted” version of ‘The Idol’ is the result of a collaboration between the Doha Film Institute and the Translation and Interpreting Institute of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Hamad bin Khalifa University, whose students attending the MA programme in Audiovisual Translation have created the audio description and enriched subtitles.
‘The Idol’ will be presented in Arabic with Arabic audio description, pre-recorded Arabic sign-language interpretation and enriched subtitles in Arabic and English.
