Synopsis

‘Jodari Meno’ follows Jamal, an avid spearfisher from Qatar, on a transformative journey into the underwater world. Driven by a quest to hunt the elusive dogtooth tuna and claim the world record for the largest catch, Jamal embarks on an adventure of self-discovery that transcends the physical depths of the sea. From his homeland in Qatar to Zanzibar's picturesque shores and the tranquil waters of Italy, Jamal’s pursuit pushes him to his limits. In Zanzibar, despite the promise of the ‘Jodari Meno’, Jamal encounters failure and self-doubt. For the first time, he experiences a blackout—a spearfisher’s nightmare—forcing him to confront his mortality and the weight of his responsibilities to his family.

Seeking redemption and growth, Jamal travels to Italy to refine his skills with master craftsman Itio Alemanni. In the depths of the Y40, one of the world’s deepest pools, he hones his techniques and prepares for the ultimate challenge. As Jamal pushes the boundaries of his endurance, he begins to grapple with the deeper meaning of his quest. Is the pursuit of the ‘Jodari Meno’ worth the sacrifices it demands? Beyond the thrill of the chase lies a profound truth: the most significant discoveries are not found in the ocean’s depths but within oneself.
