Synopsis

Struggling to earn his family’s respect, budding food blogger Omar subscribes to an AI app he hopes will help build his brand. By instantly creating trendy content using his digital footprint, the app allows Omar to realise extraordinary levels of control over his rapidly growing fan base. As the family gathers for his cousin’s wedding, the newly bona fide influencer finds himself in unexpected territory—he and his fans face off against his family.

About the Director

Mohammed D. Fakhro is a Qatari filmmaker and independent cultural producer. He has produced numerous artistic projects both in film and beyond, most recently Dania Bdeir’s Sundance prizewinner, ‘Warsha’ (2022). As a participant in the Doha Film Institute’s Filmmaking Lab, Mohammed is working on his directorial debut short film, ‘Rumor Has It’, under the mentorship of Rithy Panh. Professionally, Mohammed is a Development Associate at the Doha Film Institute, where he also manages the Institute’s Qatari Film Fund programme. He holds an MA in Interdisciplinary Studies (NYU ’21) and a BA in Creative Writing (MUOhio ’12).
