Synopsis

In the heart of Nepalese Himalayas, Pema, a spirited woman, embraces a polyandrous marriage with Tashi and his two younger brothers, initially finding harmony. When Tashi leaves for trade in Lhasa and doesn’t return, pregnant Pema faces societal scrutiny regarding her child’s legitimacy. Determined to validate her love and purity, she embarks on a quest into the wild, accompanied by her monk brother-in-law, her de facto spouse Karma. Initially resistant to leaving his monastic life, Karma gradually appreciates the simple existence of a commoner. Pema, meanwhile, immerses herself more into spiritual exploration, seeking deeper connection with the essence of existence. However, constrained by urgent duties, Karma abruptly returns to his monastic life, leaving Pema stranded. As Pema navigates through the harsh Himalayan terrain, her quest transcends the search for her missing husband. It evolves into a sacred odyssey of self-discovery and liberation, where each step across the challenging Himalayan landscape becomes a passage toward inner awakening and enlightenment.
