Synopsis

In present-day Alexandria, a factory worker, Sayed el-Deeb, dies on the job. The only compensation offered to his family is the employment of his two sons, Hossam, on the assembly line and twelve-year-old Maro, in the workshop, both near the worker who caused Sayed’s accidental death.

About the Director

Mohamed Rashad was born in 1980, the son of a presser, and raised in Alexandria, where he still lives. He graduated from the University of Alexandria, where he studied civil engineering, and started working at Caritas Egypt with homeless children, setting up drama workshops among other activities. After undertaking a two-year filmmaking workshop at the Jesuit Cultural Film School of Alexandria, he directed two short fiction films: 'From Afar' (2005) and 'Maxim' (2007). 'Little Eagles' (2016) premiered at the Dubai International Film Festival and won the Best Documentary Award at the Malmo Film Festival. Rashad is currently post-producing his first feature fiction, 'The Settlement.'
