Synopsis
‘To a Land Unknown’ follows the harrowing journey of two Palestinians, Chatila and Reda, as they navigate their way through Southern Europe amidst social collapse. Desperate to escape their dire circumstances in Athens, they save diligently to pay for fake passports. However, their plans are derailed when Reda loses their hard-earned cash to his dangerous drug addiction. Faced with dwindling options, Chatila devises an extreme plan to salvage their future. She proposes they pose as smugglers and take hostages, hoping to raise enough money to secure their escape and leave their hopeless environment behind. As they embark on this morally compromising path, the stakes rise, and the lines between right and wrong blur.

About the Director
Born in Dubai, Mahdi Fleifel lives and works between Denmark, England, and Greece. A graduate of the UK's National Film & Television School, he studied Fiction Directing under Stephen Frears and Pawel Pawlikowski. In 2010, he founded the company Nakba FilmWorks.
