The Family Weekend also welcomes many talented performers from around the world for exciting concerts. All performances will take place at the SONY Cinema Under the Stars on the Esplanade and are free.
DRUMS
The famous Drummers from Doha, led by South African musician Patrick Dilley, return to Ajyal. One of the best aspects of the Djembe drum is that it enables you to interact with your audience instead of being stuck behind a drum kit. Be prepared to feel the energy and the joyful power of drumming! This local percussion band will have you tapping your feet in no time.

THE RECYCLED ORCHESTRA OF CATEURA
The Recycled Orchestra of Cateura, featured in the documentary ‘Landfill Harmonic’, is comprised of children, teenagers and disadvantaged youth living in the community of Bañado Sur, located around the landfill of Cateura in Paraguay. What makes this group is the unique is how they take advantage of this environment: many of their instruments are made from materials found in the landfill. Through the power of music, the orchestra aims to inspire children and young people living in precarious conditions.
This inspirational success story has led to the documentary ‘Landfill Harmonic’, which will be presented after the concert.

‘On the Wing’ – Cine-Concert by the Festival Tout-Petits Cinema
The Forum des Images bring a special treat to anyone who loves cinema and music. Join us for an outdoor cine-concert by the Festival Tout-Petits Cinéma from Paris. Four short films will screen with live accompaniment by pianist Anthony Boulc’h and saxophonist Fanch Minous, whose compositions brilliantly complement the films.

QATAR MUSIC ACADEMY
Come celebrate Qatar’s young talents! The Qatar Music Academy, a member of the Qatar Foundation, presents two orchestra performances.
Youth Orchestra – A high level of excellence and a wide repertoire distinguish the Qatar Music Academy’s Youth Orchestra, whose philharmonic performers are all 18 years of age and younger.
The Symphonic Wind Orchestra is the Qatar Music Academy’s premier wind ensemble, featuring woodwinds, brass and orchestral percussion instruments. If you want to discover the next generation of maestros, don’t miss this incredible performance!
