Doha, Qatar; October 22, 2013: Doha Film Institute is going to hold a ‘Volunteer Open House’, giving film enthusiasts in Qatar the opportunity to be part of the inaugural Ajyal Youth Film Festival, to be held from November 26 to 30, 2013.

Interested candidates aged 18 and above, can register on site during the Open House, receive first-hand information about the available opportunities and learn workings of an international film festival from the Volunteer Management team. The ‘Volunteer Open House’ will be held from October 25 to 27, 2013, from 11am to 7pm, at Building 33 in Katara Cultural Village.

Fatma Al Remaihi, Festival Director, said: “The volunteer programme is at the heart of the Festival and highlights the city’s multicultural and cosmopolitan outlook for Festival visitors from around the world. Ajyal Youth Film Festival provides volunteers with a unique chance to interact with film experts, industry professionals, international guests and hundreds of young jurors. They are helping to build a major cultural event that will harness the power of the youth through the medium of film.”

The Festival is looking for more than 500 volunteers to help with all aspects of the festival’s operations. Volunteers will be exposed to and gain industry experience, receive a participation certificate and contribute to the success of a major film festival.

Ajyal Youth Film Festival builds on the Doha Film Institute’s history of community-based programming. Ajyal invites generations to come together to discuss cinema through events that inspire creative interaction, opening up a fun, collaborative environment where young people can express themselves.
