THIS year’s Doha Tribeca Film Festival (DTFF 2011), to be held between October 25 and 29, will feature movies and personalities that draw attention to issues close to the heart of the Arab world — the Arab Spring and the empowerment of women.

Speaking at a press conference in Katara on Tuesday, Doha Film Institute (DFI) Executive Director Amanda Palmer said about 40 percent of the entries in this year’s Arab film competition section are from women film-makers while three out of the 14 films in the competition section deal with the current Arab Spring.
