6th Annual Filmmakers’ Lab
This year the Doha Film Institute is partnering with Maisha, a film laboratory for East Africans and South Asians, to offer Qataris the opportunity to join the Maisha’s Annual Filmmakers’ Lab, an intensive 25-day course for aspiring filmmakers.
This is a program for those who have already worked on a film of their own, with a production company or have some technical knowledge of the filmmaking process.
Maisha’s Reading Committee will select screenwriting participants from Africa and Qatar based on their submitted 10-15 page screenplays. Four writing mentors will help these participants revise their work by conducting workshops on the fundamentals of screenwriting as well as meeting with the participants one-on-one. Trainees attend seminars on all aspects of film production and also work one-on-one with experts in their field.
