Synopsis
Insecure 18-year-old curvy tomboy Nadine is working at her family’s shawarma shop in the Paris suburbs when a twist of fate ushers in a world-renowned supermodel. Admiring Nadine’s look, she showcases her on her Instagram: overnight, Nadine awakens to a brand-new reality. She is no longer an obscure teenager but a fashion phenomenon, flooded with inquiries from agencies and brands. But plus-size modelling isn’t exactly what her conservative parents had envisioned for her. As Nadine embarks on her modelling journey, she will discover the dark side of the fashion industry and the not-so-glamorous life of models, especially plus-size ones.
Desperately wanting to walk the runway, she’ll be asked to gain weight, wear padding, and put on a darker foundation to look more Lebanese—only to discover that her parents weren’t always wrong in wanting to protect her. Throughout the series, we’ll follow Nadine as she tries to reconcile the fashion industry with her traditional Lebanese family’s restrictions. This cultural clash will be further embodied by her father’s attempt to fight against the rise of Westernised shawarma shops. To further complicate things, Nadine will also have to navigate a tormented love life and the complexities of her bicultural identity.
