Geekdom is excited to present the first-ever Geekend Game Jam, in partnership with Media City Qatar and SCALE7. This event invites creative minds to bring new games to life in an exhilarating, fast-paced challenge, offering an unmatched opportunity to showcase your creativity, skill, and collaboration!

What is the Geekend Game-Jam?
Our Game Jam is a four-day event where developers design, develop, and launch a game based on a surprise theme revealed at the start of Geekend. Participants can work solo or in teams, building games and collaborating with fellow creators. At the end of the event, the games will be judged by industry experts and selected teams will win exciting prizes and recognition.

Exciting Prizes and Opportunities!
The Geekend Game Jam offers multiple prizes and resources to accelerate participants’ careers in game development:

Business Incubation Program
Up to five teams will get the priority to apply for SCALE7 Business Incubation Program —a 12-week, designed incubation period that provides mentorship, workshops, and curated programmes. This package is a tailored launchpad for entrepreneurial growth in game development, offering participants guidance from industry experts and resources to advance their creative and business skills.

Early-stage financing
One outstanding team will be awarded the QAR 25,000 Early-stage financing from SCALE7. To launch their game development in addition to the business incubation program.

Game Start-up Package
Another selected team will receive a QAR 15,000 cash prize sponsored by Geekdom, along with the Game Start-up Package. This prize includes a subsidised Start-Up process supported by Media City Qatar, allowing the team to establish themselves as a professional gaming company within Media City Qatar. This package provides critical business support, resources, and a professional foundation to help the team begin their journey in the gaming industry.

Event Details

  • Dates: 20–23 November 2024
  • Location: Geekdom Building, Lusail Boulevard
  • Timeframe: 4 days of game development, with the theme revealed on the first day of the Geekend event at 3:30 PM on the Geekend stage.

Rules and Regulations

  1. Teams can participate as solo developers or with up to 3 members. At least one team member must be 18 years old or older.
  2. All teams must follow the theme of the Game Jam and only develop their game within the allocated time (4:00 PM on November 20th – 6:00 PM on November 23rd).
  3. Teams can use their own equipment and any software or game engine of their choice.
  4. Remote participation is allowed, but teams must report progress and provide proof of development throughout the event.
  5. All teams must be present during the Game Jam Theme Announcement, and during the Game Jam Winners Announcement. If a team is not present during the Theme Announcement, they will not be able to participate.
  6. All teams must submit their game files online through a link provided by the Game Jam Team by 6:00 PM on Saturday, November 23rd.
