You can always identify a Qatari by his crisp, white thobe. Literally, the word is Arabic for “garment,” but in the Gulf region, it specifically refers to a man’s dress. Particular aspects of each thobe’s design, such as the collars and the cuffs are unique to individual countries. While summer thobes are traditionally
white, in the winter other colors and patterns are used.
